Before Reggie was a lap rat

Reggie wasn't always a lap rat. When he was young, the last place he wanted to be was on your lap. He was so energetic and adventurous, constantly on the go - things to do, places to see, stuff to chew!

Rats live very short lives - 2-3 years - so they go through the different stages of growing up pretty quickly. At age 3 months, they enter the terrible teens - and boy did we know that! Then age 6 months, they are 'adults' and enjoy relaxing more. Boy rats are more likely to enjoy lying on your lap than girl rats though.

Reggie didn't become a lap rat until about 1.5 years old - but until then, he did enjoy getting love and affection - just not necessarily on your lap.

Here he is getting a full tummy tickle from daddy whilst lying on the couch (age 7 months).

Here he is sitting with his daddy on the chair (age 10 months)

And relaxing on the table behind his cage (age 1 year)

And on top of his cage

Curled up on the couch

We have first signs of a lap rat! January 2009 - age 1yr & 7months

And more lap rat behaviour
